The jumps start to get trickier now. Clean up the coins on the start platform and go to the edge. Look down. Yep, you need to get all the way down there, and jumping's the only way to do it.
Ah, that wasn't so bad, was it? Actually, Beachball can seemingly jump from any height as long as a square lies beneath to break its fall. Furthermore, Beachball doesn't follow the physical law of constant horizontal velocity - so will travel forward one square always, only and ever; regardless of the height and time of his descent. There's no point getting up in arms over the dodgy science, after all, we're dealing with a puzzle defiantly and inexplicably suspended several thousand metres above the Earth. Even that last point about location is debatable.
This level sports a new feature - an hourglass. This doesn't quite give you more time; what it does do is flip your hourglass running timer. You start most levels with 1 minute 40 seconds on the clock. Lets say that 30 seconds into the level, you collect an hourglass. Your timer gets flipped and lo! you are left with 30 seconds to complete the rest of the level! Obviously, you have to be quite strategic about your use of the hourglass. Always use them though, as they accrue points to your total, and can be what make or break your dash for the exit.
Apart from that, the trickiest thing in this level is its size and the potential for getting lost or panicked when you can't see a route to your destination. Remember! You can only roll onto a perpendicular or parallel 180 degree plane if you find yourself a tip! 2 keys required.
Level 7
There are lots of spike blocks on this level so watch your roll. Beachball starts on a ring not unlike the one in the last level and must jump to the section of the main structure that lies below.
Notice that the exit square is on the start ring. You'll be back here (unlike the ring in the last level) and that finger in the distance with the hourglass on top is how you'll do it.
Once you've jumped down to it, make your way around the main structure carefully (spike squares) and collect your 2 keys, fruit, a gem (big points) and various coins.
Keep the position of the hourglass in mind. Also, it's worth noting here that hourglasses are worth more the less time you have left. The formula is 1000 minus 10 times the number of seconds left in your game. If you flip the hourglass just 10 seconds into your game, that's 1000 - 90 X 10 = 100 points. If you take an hourglass when there is one second left for you to complete the level it's worth 990 points.
At this point you could go back to the exit square...but much more exciting would be to check out the alternate secret exit that illuminates only when you have claimed all the exit keys for the level. There are a rare few of these secret levels (one per environment), so make sure you keep your eyes peeled once you have all the keys for a level - lest a new exit open up. The secret exits are often actually easier to get to than the standard exit.
Secret Level
Wow! Spacey! The music'll get you pumping too.
The aim of the Secret Levels is similar to the regular levels - you have to find the exit key(s) and find the exit within the time limit. The catch is that, like the Bonus Levels, you only get one shot at it.
Beachball is confronted with an array of one-square width boxes. Many of them have coins on them. Get those.
Hop between the boxes collecting coins. If you accidentally roll onto the perpendicular edge of the boxes whilst jumping, don't panic. Just turn around and roll back. In fact why don't you investigate the underneath while you're down there. Not that there's anything there mind you, but it can't hurt to look.
The exit key is on the square before the exit. Munch. Oooh! Red exit becomes green exit! And that's more points on the board for you.
Level 8
This one's fairly straightforward. No jumping required until you are ready to exit. Enjoy levels like these, they make for welcome tension release and allow you to enjoy the ambience of the game environment a little more.
The fruit is not within starting eyeshot, but it's easy enough to find.
Level 9
There are 2 tricks to this one, but first, clean up the starting platform - you won't be back.
Now, in order to hit the safe path below the starting platform, you need to jump one square back from the edge. If you were to jump from the edge, as you have done in all the puzzles hitherto, you would miss the platform beneath. Nasty.
Secondly, before you go launching off one square back from the nearest edge from the drop point, stop. Have a look down. Yes, that is a bunch of bananas sticking out of the beam that the 2 spikey blocks are on. Position yourself with your backside to the spiky squares and jump. Munch! Now you know you can claim items in mid-air, keep that in mind for future expeditions. That’s the trickiest part of this level, the rest is just cleaning up.
Level 10
This level presents Beachball with 4 structures all at different heights, so get your jumping fingers ready. It also presents our hero with a new tempation - the red and yellow lethargy pill. This sends beachball into a temporary state of toxic lala land, so they're better avoided, even if they don't come with a points penalty.
Once you've jumped your way down to the 4th structure, collecting as you go, you'll find yourself on a finger that you can flip 180 degrees on. Take the hourglass and jump back down the structures that were previously up in the other orientation.
If all goes well you will have also collected a 5th fruit and will be trading them in for another Bonus Level.
Bonus Level
Another array of (mostly) single-square blocks. These ones have coins and gems on them. And if we roll onto the other side of our start block...
...lethargy pills. Hmmm, let's just stick to the other side shall we?
Remember, you have to illuminate every block to get your exit. You should find it easy enough to clean up here. My only caution is not to get too carried away hopping from box to box by holding down the forward and jump buttons. Not all of those boxes are cubes. 2 of them are 2 by 1s. More than once I have set out hopping along the far stretch only to remember this as beachball falls into empty space, having jumped prematurely.
